"The Magnificent Seven" made a statement at the Toronto International Film Festival with its diverse characters, playing part in the movie remake. Director Antoine Fuqua on the other had, downplayed the issue on the characters saying, the diverse choice was not to make a statement; rather he just wanted to see Denzel Washington ride a horse.
Fuqua also added that, the time couldn't be more perfect. As the Westerns changed in time, so does the adaptation of films that has something to do in the Western. According to the director, they based how the modern times changed and affected the Western influence. "The Magnificent Seven" characters include Ethan Hawke, Chris Pratt, Mexico's Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, South Korean actor Byung Hun Lee, Native American actor Martin Sensmeier and Vincent D'Onofrio.
Fuqua also added that, their main target is to get the attention of the audience based on how the characters equally portray their Western roles in the movie. If audience thinks otherwise and look more leaning on the race of the character, that has not been the film's goal.
He then shed some light on "The Magnificent Seven" film with its 1960's version. He said "I didn't keep away from it, I just didn't know how it would help me. I'd never seen it as a kid." Western films in Hollywood recently picked up after Quentin Tarantino made two successful Western films in the past; Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight. Fuqua on the other hand, is not a pioneer when it comes to working with Denzel Washington. Apparently, the two have worked on films like "Training Day" and "The Equalizer."
"The Magnificent Seven" is set for release in theaters on September 23, 2016. For more news and update on the film, make sure to check us here on GameNGuide.com.
