Elder Scrolls Online, The Last of Us And 3 Other Games To Look Forward To In 2013

It is that time of the year where all the big triple-A titles have already released and there is nothing to do but play old games that came out last month. So what do we do?  We could purchase some downloadable content for games like Mass Effect 3, Assassin's Creed III and Borderlands 2, or we can just sit here and gaze into future and see what big games we have to look forward to in 2013. Here is our list of five games that may not be on your radar for 2013, but should be.

5. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4:

Has this game been announced? Well no! But we all know it is coming out next November. The only reason its not on your radar is because we haven't heard anything about the game yet. Call of Duty is Activision's big chubby cash cow and the publisher has to gives gamers another one. It may not be Modern Warfare 4, maybe there will be a new subtitle and the game will take us into the year 2099. The game could be for the next generation of console, but I'm betting it will be the series last hurrah on the current generation. I have always preferred Infinity Wards' entries in the Call of Duty series to Treyarch's games, so I hope this game is coming in 2013.

4. Madden NFL 2014:

Last Year, EA Sports finally improved its long running pro-football franchise by offering some gameplay innovations. I personally felt that the developer fell short of its goal. The game had multiple bugs and glitches including kickers and punters who never touch the ball on field goals and punts. Lets not forget quarterback making 65-yard underhand throws while being sacked. But Madden 13 showed that the developer was finally moving in the right direction and hopefully the next entry will send off the current generation of consoles with a great football game. I do have a nagging feeling that EA will just rehash this year's version and wait till the PS4 and Xbox 720 to fixes the infinity engines problems.

3. Star Trek:

JJ Abrams' 2009 series reboot of "Star Trek" made the franchise cool for possible the first time ever. I mean Captain Kirk was 'James Bond' suave in that movie and Spock was pretty close to the original Spock, but that is a good thing. Star Trek: The Game is being developed by Digital Extremes and will feature many of the film's actors reprising their roles. The game takes place in the down time between the "Star Trek" and upcoming sequel "Star Trek: Into Darkness." Player will take on the role of either Kirk or Spock as they battle against the Gorn, an enemy alien race. The game is will be released in Spring 2013. Star Trek into Darkness will release on May 17, 2013.

2. The Last of Us:

Those awesome developers at Naughty Dog have created some of the best exclusive titles for Sony's PlayStation 3. The Uncharted series is one of the best of this console generation and now Naughty Dog looks to change the post-apocalyptic genre with its new game, The Last of Us. The game seems to be more influenced by films like "The Road" and "I Am Legend" than George Romero's classic zombie films. Like The Uncharted series, the game will feature a computer-controlled companion that will accompany players on their journey through the dilapidated ruins of society. Ellie will acts as a surrogate daughter to the game's main protagonist Joel and if Naughty Dog can create a dynamic half as good as Telltale's recent The Walking Dead: The Game, we will be in for a fantastic and emotional thriller.

1. The Elder Scrolls Online:

Bethesda has spent the last few months of 2012 teasing fans with developer videos about the first ever online game in the Elder Scrolls series. The MMO is set in Tamriel, an ancient land that includes the provinces of Morrowind, Daggerfall, and Skyrim. The game will takes place 1,000 years before the events of Skyrim, during an Age of Heroes. Players will have to team up with friends and save the land from an unstoppable evil. Not too much is known about the game payment model, as Bethesda is keeping its plans tight lipped. There will be nine classes and online player versus player multiplayer action. The Elder Scrolls Online is being developed by ZeniMax Online Studios, a group put together with seasoned developers that have worked on MMOs before. The game should release sometime in 2013.
