'The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition' Release Date, News & Update: No Save Files Transfers, No Mod Support for PS4

"The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition" will not have mod support for PS4. Bethesda made the announcement on its website revealing that Sony refused to approve the user mods to work the way they must. Bethesda is still looking for other ways that the mods can be used by PlayStation users but the Xbox One, PS4, and PC version will still contain new and improved visuals upon its release on Oct.28.

Bethesda released a statement after months of negotiations with Sony that the mod support for PS4 will no longer push through. Bethesda expressed disappointment at the time and effort wasted along with the fans that waited on the mods. However, Bethesda still believes that the content for "Elder Scrolls" on PS4 cannot be available until Sony will allow them to provide proper mod support for the gaming console,  Gematsu reported.

In other news, "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" fans will not be able to transfer saves from PS3 and Xbox 360. Bethesda confirmed that the Xbox One and PS4 versions of "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition" will not be supporting save files from older editions of the game. Hence, PS3 save files cannot be transferred to PS4 and save files from Xbox 360 will not be carried over to the Xbox One. Bethesda  VP Pete Hines confirmed the news that saves from the old versions will not work for the new consoles.

"The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition" will feature the content from the original game including 'Heartfire Home Improvements' DLC, 'Dragonborn' add-on, a new location, and 'Dawnguard' questline. PC users with Skyrim and all DLC copy can get an upgrade for free along with "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Remastered" DLC will automatically be installed,  Express reported.
