‘Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition’ News & Update: Launch Includes Free Shadow Lords Campaign; All Previously Released Fighters Available, More Content Coming

The "Killer Instinct" Shadow Lords single-player campaign mode is already available for free. "Killer Instinct" Shadow Lords was first announced in March 2016, described as a combination of arcade mode, story mode, arcade and roguelike. The free campaign mode releases together with "Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition."

"Killer Instinct" Shadow Lords requires players to defeat Gargos to prevent his successful invasion of Earth. Players will select one character to be their main protagonist and form a team of other fighters from the game roster. "Killer Instinct" Shadow Lords will acquire additional content as more characters are provided to the game. Fans should expect great combat mechanics, various loot to earn and items to craft. KI Gold is the in-game currency, which can be used to acquire rare content faster. Players can get KI Gold while playing or through cash purchase.

GameSpot stated that "Killer Instinct" Shadow Lords is currently available to all players of the main game. The campaign mode is free, but players who wish to avail of "Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition" will have to shell out $40. The package already includes all previously released fighters, costumes, accessories and stages. Players can also acquire a Gold Gargos skin. The original soundtrack will be available to those who purchase the package at retail.

According to Xbox.com, "Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition" features a total of 26 fighters and 20 stages. A lot of exclusive content were also provided during the three years of development, allowing players to enjoy several features, artwork, stories, music and history. "Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition" and Shadow Lords promise to provide hours of unique gameplay, different from other fighting games. In the game trailer, the new Astral stage was shown, which can be unlocked in-game. There were also plenty of exciting fighting scenes, showcasing the unique abilities and items that can be used during matches.

"Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition" will also launch on Windows 10 PC later in 2016, as part of the Play Anywhere program. This means that gamers can purchase and play the title on PC and Xbox One. More updates and details on "Killer Instinct" Shadow Lords are expected soon.
