Bioshock Infinite Release Date: Irrational Games Releases A New Documentary About The Floating City Of Columbia

Irrational Games has released a really cool new documentary-style trailer for its upcoming first-person shooter, BioShock Infinite. The fictional documentary offers a unique look at the new video game and explains how the floating city of Columbia seceded from the United States.

According to a synopsis of the new trailer of Irrational Games' website, "In this "Truth From Legend" segment, Alistar Bloom attempts to unlock the mysteries of Columbia, and reviews artifacts that pose new and troubling questions about the city."

The title of the video is "Columbia: A modern Day Icarus" which is a nod to the game's original title, Project Icarus. The trailer does an excellent job of capturing the style of history programs and mixing it with the tone of an episode of "Unsolved Mysterious."

The fictional TV show "Truth From Legends" explores the mysteries of Columbia from it's birth at the World's Fair in 1893 to its inevitable secession from the United States after become entangled with foreign affairs.

One of the more intriguing aspects of the video is the fallen house that has crash-landed on a snow-capped mountain range in the year 1981. The house contains many artifacts from the city of Columbia including what appears to be Booker DeWitt's skyhook. This means the house crash-landed nearly 70 years ago, since the main mission of the game is set in 1912.

Irrational Games also recently announced both The Industrial Revolution Pack as a preorder bonus for BioShock: Infinite and a "BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt,"an e-book prequel to the game.

The DLC pack gives gamers exclusive access to three in-game gear items that boost combat abilities, 500 bonus in-game currency, five lock picks. The bonus also includes the Industrial Revolution puzzle game, which unlocks stories of Columbia and allows players to pledge their allegiance to the Vox Populi or Founders through Facebook, according to Irrational Games.

"BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt" will give an in-depth look at the mysterious floating city of Columbia before the events of the upcoming video game. Irrational Games' writer Joe Fielder wrote the e-book with the help of the game's creative director Ken Levine.

BioShock: Infinite releases on March 26, 2013 worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Learn more about the creation of Elizabeth here and learn how Irrational Games tackled the issue of racism in 1912 here.
