PlayStation 4/ Orbis Rumor: PS4 Will Release Later in Europe According To New Report

The next generation PlayStation will launch in Japan and the U.S. by the 2013 holiday season, but European gamers will likely have to wait until early 2014, according to a new report.

Edge Online has reported that the PlayStation 4 will be delayed in the European market due to "the complexities involved in European distribution."

The article also states that Sony will launch a new improved version of the PlayStation Eye peripheral, which will still be compatible with Sony's PlayStation Move controller. According to Edge, the Move will also be available at launch, but it is not clear if the device will be packaged with the console or sold separately.

Sony revealed earlier this week that it would be making an important announcement on Feb. 20, which is generally believed to be the international introduction of the PlayStation 3's successor.

In comparison to a previous rumor, Edge claims that the PlayStation 4 will feature "a redesigned controller, which is the same size as an existing DualShock but features a small touchpad in place of the existing Select, Start and PS buttons."

The report states that the technology behind the controller's touchscreen is based on the PlayStation Vita's touchpad and will be "similarly responsive in use."

Edge also claims "a new Share button on the controller will, when pressed, launch a new feature that will allow screenshots and video to be distributed online. The PS4 hardware will continually record the most recent 15 minutes of onscreen action (with no processing penalty, claims our source), which users will then be able to edit and broadcast via the Internet."

An earlier report from Computers and Video Games claimed that the new controller features biometric sensors on the grips and an LCD touch screen. But in contrast to the Edge Online article, he said the new controller would not resemble the current DualShock pad and that Sony has tested numerous variations of this new controller.
