Microsoft Surface phone's latest rumors circulating online suggested that the unit might be boasting incredible specs changes, which include the fingerprint sensor as well as AMOLED display. The primary goal of the company to incorporate the fingerprint scanner is to get in line with other smartphone providers today, thereby boosting their market share, according to reports.

Based on the report of Beta News, the Redmond-based technology giant had already filed a patent called Fingerprint Detection with Transparent cover. The patent tells that the fingerprint sensor is expected to be included on the upcoming Microsoft Surface phone's display and comes with a filter and waveguide.

WIPO reported that the patent includes a transparent cover as well as a light source disposed at an edge of the said cover. More so, the light source is designed to inject light into the transparent cover, which guides that light until interaction with a fingerprint ridge at the transparent cover. A detector, on the other hand, gives a signal indicative of the scattered light allowed via filter.

Apart from that, it is also stated that the new scanner will give users better security as the Surface phone will only unlock when the user place his fingerprint onto the display panel. The same report claims that the sensor integrated in the device will scan the unique crests of the fingerprint of the user so as to unlock the device.

The Microsoft Surface phone is also rumored to equip a sleeker chassis, and AMOLED display panel. Also, the device is reportedly to have two variants, which include the 5.5-inch display for consumers and 6-inch screen for business.

Furthermore, rumors suggested that the device will be powered by Intel Kaby Lake processor and comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage for the base model whereas the high-end model comes with 8GB of RAM and 512GB storage.
