Android 7.0 Nougat is the much-awaited OS update from Google. The update was first seen in devices like the Nexus 5X. However, there have been numerous complaints about a bootloop issue resulting from the update. Previously dubbed the Android N, the Android 7.0 is currently available for selected Nexus tablets and smartphones. Later this year, the update is expected to roll out on devices from popular Android manufacturers like LG, HTC and Samsung.
Nexus 5X owners who had the Android 7.0 Nougat update reportedly had random reboot issues after installing the update. A particular one complained that creating a cache partition or factory resetting the device apparently does not work. The device reportedly turns off or restarts frequently and at times does not turn on.
A Google representative came out and said that the tech company is aware of the issues that Nexus 5X owners are facing with due to the Android 7.0 Nougat update. The company may be expected to resolve the matter soon as the update issues are already being investigated, he added.
Nexus 5x owners who are experiencing the issue have been encouraged to contact the place of purchase for warranty and or repair options. As for those who bought the Nexus 5x from the Google Store, the company has options for exchange, repair or refund, Google Store Help said. Another option is to visit the LG website and find out about LG's limited manufacturer's warranty.
Meanwhile, Google recently announced that the first Nougat maintenance launch is already in the works. The update is expected to bring continued refinements and polish. The tech company plans to release a beta version of the update this fall before the big release. The Android 7.1 Nougat update is expected to roll out after the launching of Google's new Pixel phones on Oct. 4. The Pixel phones are expected to replace the Nexus 5X and 6P as the flagship products of Google.
Android 7.0 Nougat update reportedly caused the most network-related crashes than the iOS 10 which also had several OS issues, Forbes reported. The Nougat is said to have 2.5 times more crashes than the iOS 10 with apps in Nougat crashing 6.4% of the time compared to the iOS 10 4.1% crash rate. Even in comparison to the previous updates, the Nougat still managed to do the worst damage. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is by far considered the most stable Android OS.
