'Shadowhunters' Season 2 Explores The Complicated Relationship Of 'Malec'
An exclusive first look at "Shadowhunters" season 2 revealed that next season will pick up just moments after season 1 ended, Entertainment Weekly reported. "We don't miss a beat between the finale and the premiere," showrunner Todd Slavkin said to the online publication. Darren Swimmer and Slavkin - who are known for their works in "Smallville"-- will be taking the reins from Ed Decter. The showrunner also added that season 2 is the perfect time to explore the relationship of Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.) and Alec Lightwood (Matthew Daddario) now that Jace is out of the picture momentarily.

Executive producer Michael Reisz - writer of the "Malec" episode -- dished out details to Paste Magazine regarding the LGBT theme of the fantasy-based teen drama. Reisz said that the development of Magnus and Alec's relationship in "Shadowhunters" season 2 will depend mainly on their differences. Fans will continue to see Alec owning his power and his authenticity. Meanwhile, fans will see Magnus opening himself to love. However, the executive producer teased that things may not work out as planned.
A New Kind Of Clary In 'Shadowhunters' Season 2
While fans are excited to see what will happen to Magnus and Alec in "Shadowhunters" season 2, Katherine McNamara teased fans further about Clary's journey next season. In an interview with VVV Magazine, the actress - who portrays Clary - said that fans will see her struggling as she deals with the fact that Jace is her brother. More so, "Shadowhunters" season 2 will see the two switching roles: Clary will lead Jace as he struggles with the idea that Valentine is his father.
