Amid the current controversies concerning black people getting gunned down that stirred up the "Black Lives Matter" campaign, "Luke Cage" Netflix series is considered to be one brave, yet ironic soul. According to The New Yorker, the unofficial tagline for "Luke Cage" Netflix series is "The world is in need of a bulletproof, black man."
"Luke Cage" - Harlem Renaissance?
With the rise of TV series with a black man as a hero, "Luke Cage's" creator, Cheo Hodari Coker humbly said that the rise of the said TV series is like an onset of a Harlem Renaissance. Of course, given that "Luke Cage" Netflix series has a black man as the lead actor, majority of the characters are also black. Cheo Hodari Coker said that he wanted to showcase black actresses and see a spectrum of different black beauties.
