It follows the Bowman couple Will, played by Josh Holloway and Katie played by Sarah Wayne Callies who wants to do everything in their power to keep the family together even as Los Angeles is invaded and eventually controlled by an Alien force through their human puppets called the Colony Transitional Authority. As creator Carlton Cuse explained to The Hollywood Reporter, everything that Josh Holloway's character Will did in the first season was to find his son Charlie in Santa Monica. After a rather circuitous trek, he finally made it inside the walled quarters of the Santa Monica Block. On the other hand, Josh Holloway, revealed something about what his character will go through in "Colony" Season 2. The actor teased the next season could be markedly darker due to the subject it will be tackling, reports Comic Book.
However, Josh Holloway teased that "Colony" Season 2 will be a lot more expansive than the previous season. While it previously focused on the Bowman family, its scope will now be expanding in the upcoming season which is in line with what Cuse told in a separate interview that the second season could be dealing directly with the alien invaders adding that it gets deeper into sci-fi territory and theme.

On the other hand, actress Sarah Wayne Callies who portrays Will's wife Katie in the series likewise teased some details about the coming "Colony" Season 2. Continuing with Josh Holloway's darker themed season revelation, Callies explains that the regime gets more oppressive next season.
Sarah Wayne Callies elaborates that in the upcoming "Colony" Season 2 there will be walls and curfews, the usual for any dictatorship. But more frightening still will be the intellectual tampering of the new generation which viewers already got a glimpse of last season in the case of Katie's daughter.
In addition, Cuse hints that Katie might be having some doubts about her involvement with the resistance in "Colony" Season 2. While she did it thinking that it was the best way to protect her family, Katie might have to reevaluate her position considering the toll it took on her family life.
