The success of the "Iron Man" franchise is more than enough to set the fire burning for "Iron Man 4." However, despite the success of franchise, the release date of Robert Downey Jr. to reprise his role in the fourth installment as Tony Stark is clouded with mystery.
There are rumors surging that Robert Downey Jr. is ending his days as Tony Stark, it would then mean that "Iron Man 4" would never see the light of day in the cinemas. Also, there are claims Robert Downey Jr. might take on new roles. One of the assumptions is that he might take on the role as the next James Bond.
Although it has not been affirmed, many are wondering on whether Robert Downey Jr. would pull it off or not. Some are also apprehensive if ever the rumors would materialize because Downey has been so good in embodying Tony Stark and even in real life, people perceived him as such and are waiting for him to return in "Iron Man 4."
Despite the surging rumors, none of these speculations were proven as authentic and true. Even though "Iron Man 4" was not confirmed to return, it does not imply that Robert Downey Jr. has finally pulled the plug, end reprising his role as Tony Stark and be James Bond.
In a former report from GamenGuide, there were notions that Marvel and Robert Downey's schedule are not compatible and it is one of the reasons why "Iron Man 4" has not started its production. However, that notion has been debunked as well.

Other rumors from iTech Post relayed that there would be no "Iron Man 4" because Tony Stark will die in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War," but that remains unverified as well. For the fans and followers of Robert Downey Jr. and of Tony Stark, the return of "Iron Man 4" into the big screens remains unknown and even Downey remains mum on the matter as well.
