Fruit Ninja VR Release Date, News & Update: Game Hitting Smartphones In Early 2017?

When Fruit Ninja VR was first announced in June, everyone was surprised. After all, Fruit Ninja is one of the most popular game apps in history, with over 250 million downloads worldwide.

It is rumored that Fruit Ninja VR will be hitting the market officially in the first quarter of 2017. It can be remembered that according to Android Authority, Fruit Ninja VR will only be released to the Google Daydream VR, Oculus Rift and Playstation VR platforms. But the developers are said to be inspired by the success of Pokemon GO and have commissioned the development of Fruit Ninja VR for smartphones.

Back in June, in its official website, it was reported that Halfbrick Studios is deep in the development of the virtual reality version of the popular iOS game. Called Fruit Ninja VR, the new version will be making use of the emerging trend of virtual reality to bring a great twist to the game.

Fruit Ninja VR, which is a few steps up from the app that was first released for the iPod Touch and the iPhone in 2010, represents a major upgrade for the game. The last time Fruit Ninja attempted such a drastic redevelopment was back in 2011 when they released Fruit Ninja Kinect for the Xbox 360. An arcade version called Fruit Ninja FX was also released.

Fruit Ninja VR is already available in an unfinished version on the HTC Vive but other virtual reality platforms have not gotten the game yet. GameNGuide will be covering more on the updates on Fruit Ninja VR in the coming months.

Are you excited to finally get Fruit Ninja VR on your device? Should Halfbrick Studios pursue the development of Fruit Ninja VR? GameNGuide would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section. In the meantime, watch the launch trailer for Fruit Ninja VR in the video below.
