'Resident Evil 2' Remake Release Date, News & Update: Capcom Ditches Game? Fans Are Worried

"Resident Evil 2" Remake is being anticipated by the game series' avid fans. In fact, when Capcom announced the production of the remake, players have been rejoicing with the news. Then again, a year went by and there is no specific update about the favorite game yet.

With the absence of update, fans are wondering if Capcom already abandon the "Resident Evil 2" Remake project. The plan was announced in August 2015 but the progress regarding its development remained a mystery since the game developer is not publishing anything about it.

What's more, it seems that Capcom is currently busy working on "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" and this further fueled fans' assumption that the remake version is not coming anymore. But still, it is too early for fans to be worried especially because game producer from Capcom's R&D Division 1, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi a.k.a. H, already said before that it may take time before they can release an update.

When he made the announcement about "Resident Evil 2" Remake via video message, he said that they will be giving updates about the project through their official Facebook page. However, he noted that it will be some time before they can give any news so while waiting, Hirabayashi urged fans to look forward to other "Resident Evil" brands like the HD Remaster version of "Resident Evil Zero."

On the "Resident Evil" thread on Reddit, someone suggested that "Resident Evil 2" Remake might be released together with the RE7. Others noted that this could be true, and Capcom planned this as a special event in time for the game's 20th anniversary in January next year. Finally, although no exact date of release was ever mentioned, another theory that most players believe is that Capcom will launch the "Resident Evil 2" Remake beta version before finally launching the full game any time in 2017.
