'Marco Polo' Season 3 Production Halted Due To Budget Constraints? Series To Air In 2018?
It's no secret that "Marco Polo" is an expensive show to make. The series has to be filmed in numerous locations like Malaysia, Kazakhstan and Italy, requiring grand sets to depict Kublai Khan's power and wealth (via Deadline). Nevertheless, Netflix and The Weinstein Company didn't have any problems releasing two season of the series (although they did take a long time in production). However, it is possible that "Marco Polo" Season 3 will still be moved to a later date because of the network's 2017 lineup.
Netflix is set for another busy year in 2017, most notably for the return of its biggest hits and new major projects from Marvel (via CinemaBlend). "Stranger Things" has been confirmed for a second season and there are speculations that Marvel will debut three new shows next year ("Iron Fist", "The Punisher" and "The Defenders"). While all four shows have officially been announced, there has been no confirmation on "Marco Polo" Season 3. There is a possibility that the Benedict Wong series will not return next year, but on a later date.
