Although "Descendants of the Sun" stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo may have not commented on the status of their relationship yet, fans are confident that the two are definitely more than just friends. The close relationship of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo was proven even more when the latter comforted her "Descendants of the Sun" co-star during his tough times. A new report claims that Song Joong Ki was disappointed for not bringing home the Grand Excellence Award and Song Hye ko came to his aid.
Chatt Sports Net reports that Song Joong Ki became very depressed after failing to nab the prestigious award at the 2016 Korean Drama Awards. The 31-year-old South Korean actor definitely needed consoling from his closest friends and there were speculations that his "Descendants of the Sun" leading lady Song Hye Ko was comforting him. Song Joong Ki probably felt that he let the cast and crew down which resulted to hi depression.

It is believed that Song Joong Ki's loss at the 2016 Korean Drama Awards for Grand Excellence is the reason that he and "Descendants of the Sun" actress Song Hye Kyo went on a "secret vacation" to Norway. Although they could very well just went on to the trip as friends, Inquisitr suggests that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo took the holiday to celebrate his birthday. These speculations have not been confirmed by Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo camps.
But it wasn't all bad news for the "Descendants of the Sun" team. The show won the award for Best Drama, which gives Song Joong Ki a reason to celebrate despite his loss. The popularity of the show and the undeniable chemistry of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo lead to whispers of a possibility of "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2. But with Song Joong Ki's new movie "Battleship Island" already on its way, it is still uncertain if "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 will be happening soon.
