'Dead Space 3' Awakened DLC Arrives

The first piece of DLC for "Dead Space 3" is set to hit all platforms on Tuesday.

It's an extension to the game's campaign, where Carver and Clark have managed (spoilers) to survive the crashing of the Necromorph moon, and now have to repair the Terra Nova, and get their butts off the frozen iceball Tau Volantis before they freeze to death. The bad - Necromorphs are still attacking the weary duo. The badder - Clark's hallucinations are getting worse. The good - Said hallucinations promise an experience that's much more akin to "classic" survival horror moments.

Clark is haunted by images of Unitologists as his insanity takes a very real foot hold. Not knowing what is real, Clark and Carver realize that despite having to work together, they're also unable to trust each other.

Visceral had previously described the DLC as having some of the "darkest chapters as the Necromorph battles become even more gruesome and terrifying than before," and they're confident it'll scare the pants off of players.

"Dead Space 3 Awakened is some of the most creative and unsettling content the team has ever created -- it's really going to test gamers' psyche," says Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer on "Dead Space 3," in a press release. "We've put Isaac and now Carver through a lot in the franchise, but these seasoned vets are experts when it comes to taking down the terror. We can't wait to see who is brave enough to venture further into the horrors that lie within Awakened."

Players can grab Awakened for $9.99, or 800 Microsoft Points. PC players can grab it on Origin, and PS3 players get it as soon as the PS Store updates. Check the trailer below to see what you're getting yourself into.
