‘Star Wars’ Novel News & Update: New Novel ‘Ahsoka’ Explains Why Enemy Lightsabers Are Red

The new "Star Wars" novel gave more information about lightsabers. "Star Wars" fans were finally provided with a clear explanation on how lightsabers get their color. The new novel, titled "Ahsoka," by E.K. Johnston, also gave details about Obi-Wan's exile and AhsokaTano, the padawan of Anakin Skywalker.

Uproxx wrote that the "Star Wars" story stated that lightsabers acquire their color from the kyber crystal. The crystal is used to make lightsabers, as well as the Death Star, and these can only be found by a Force user the crystal chooses to reveal itself to.

Generally, lightsaber users have these in blue, green, yellow, white or purple. Kyber crystals are available in several areas like Jedha. These may also be the reason why The Empire invaded the place.

The new "Star Wars" novel revelation also means that no one from the dark side can discover the kyber crystals on their own. When members of the dark side steal the crystals, these bleed, resulting to its red color. When in the hands of the dark side, the crystal can only produce the red color in "Star Wars."

The "Star Wars" novel also provide some details about the 18-year-old Obi-Wan Kenobi while in exile on Tatooine. In "Ahsoka," Obi-Wan was featured using the force to contact the late Qui-Gon Jinn briefly. In the "Star Wars" tale, Obi-Wan also went to the grave of Shmi, Anakin's mother, and apologizes for failing to stop Anakin from moving to the dark side.

ScreenRant noted that in the "Star Wars" novel, Ahsoka previously surrendered her title of Padawan and lightsabers, but Anakin actually returned the lightsabers at the start of the Siege of Mandalore. Ahsoka had to convince the Empire that she was dead, leaving the green and yellow lightsabers in a grave to indicate that she died during the Jedi Purge.

Later on, Ahsoka thought about returning to Mandalore to retrieve the lightsabers but believed that these were already gone. Instead of getting her old weapons back in the "Star Wars" story, she decided to make new blades. "Ahsoka" is currently on sale. More updates and details on "Star Wars" are expected soon.
