‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Release Date, News & Update: Lucasfilm Set To Release Standalone Movie This December!
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is a standalone film of "Star Wars" that is set to release in December. The plot is about the forming of rebels which took place subsequently to "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" and the development before "Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope." The creator of "Star Wars" is optimistic that the fans will surely support the film.
According to IGN, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is about a set mission of Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) and other senators to a group of rebels, lead by Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones). Their mission is to steal the plans of the Galactic Empire for their new weapon, called the Death Star. Mon Mothma knows that the Death Star is created by Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen), the father of Jyn Erso who made her suitable for the mission.
Moreover, the Rebel Alliance that is formed by Mon Mothma and some senators could be discreetly the key to bringing down the power and influence of Emperor Palpatine.But, no one has confirmed yet from the producers if Palpatine will be on "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."
However, Ian Mcdiarmid, who played Emperor Palpatine in "Star Wars" trilogy, said in his interview that he won't be seen in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." "I am not featured in [the movie] myself, but I understand that Darth Vader may be making an appearance," he hinted.
In addition, the standalone film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," has a tie-in novel to the film, which will feature a back story of the said movie. The novel titled "Catalyst: A Rogue One Story" is written by James Luceno and will be released in November 2016. "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" directed by Gareth Edwards will release in theatres on December 16, 2016.
