'Star Trek: The Video Game': Shatner VS The Gorn: The Rematch [TRAILER]

It was over 40 years ago that a much younger William Shatner first squared off against the giant lizard known as the Gorn in one of the most hilariously awful fight scenes of science fiction. Now the two set out to finish their squabble like real men.

Talk about an homage. The two re-enact the same akward swings, blow for blow, before age eventually gets the better of them. Note the head clap homage at 1:15, but the real icing on the cake is Shatner's quip at the Gorn at the very end.

Don't expect the video game Kirk to fare a whole lot better than Shatner. The Gorn were given an entirely new design for the upcoming "Star Trek: The Video Game," developed by Digital Extremes.

In an entirely original story, written by BAFTA award winner Marianne Krawczyk, the Gorn is a terrifying threat, sporting an army that could overwhelm Kirk, Spock and the crew of the Enterprise. But they don't dress anywhere near as snappy as the Gorn from '67.

"Star Trek the Video Game" is meant to fill in the gap between 2009's "Star Trek" and the upcoming "Star Trek Into Darkness," both directed by J.J. Abrams. It's unknown if the Gorn are the primary enemy, or just one of a few different possible enemies. It'd be great to see some of the series' other campy villains resurrected, like Evil Spock.

It's planned for release on April 23rd for PS3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC.
