‘Kingdom Hearts 3’ Release Date, News & Update: Tetsuya Nomura Unveils Sora’s New Guard Form, Teases Mysterious Keyblade

"Kingdom Hearts" game director Tetsuya Nomura gave avid fans a treat with the release of new screenshots from the upcoming game "Kingdom Hearts 3." The said images revealed an interesting guard shield, a new Keyblade and Sora's new Guard Form.

The latest installment to Square Enix's popular "Kingdom Hearts" game franchise is expected to feature exciting gameplay enhancements, new worlds and new in-game items. Recently, several messages posted on the game's official Twitter account unveiled a quick look at Sora, his new abilities and an Olympus-themed background.

The said Twitter post contained images that featured Sora fighting with a shadow villain in a world with cloud-like walls and Greek-inspired structures. Approved for release by Nomura, the in-game screenshots revealed Sora's Guard Form, as well as a special shield.

Described as a new Drive Form, Sora's new outfit featured a mix of black and yellow colors with grey-colored diamond patterns. Game developers also added an interesting shield to "Kingdom Hearts 3" which is a transformed version of the Herc's Shield Keyblade, as indicated in the Twitter messages.

An image of a mysterious new Keyblade was also shown that appears to resemble a large hammer. In the said image, Sora can be seen wielding the said weapon in a jump move to attack a shadow creature.

However, the said screenshot was edited with the weapon changed to a hammer-shaped Keyblade, according to the Twitter post. It appears that Sora will be able to gain the said Keyblade in a new world that game developers have yet to unveil.

Meanwhile, the release of the new in-game pictures served as a pleasant surprise following Nomura's earlier statements. In a previous interview, the game director commented on the lack of "Kingdom Hearts 3" gaming announcements given the team's focus on the upcoming game "Kingdom Hearts 2.8."

In other news, Square Enix recently announced its special "Kingdom Hearts" game compilation that will contain remastered versions of previous game installments, Polygon reported. Titled "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix," the game bundle will contain six games such as "Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix," "Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix," "Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded," "Kingdom Hearts Final Mix," "Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain Of Memories" and "Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days."

The new "Kingdom Hearts" game bundle will be released on March 28, 2017 for the Playstation 4 console. Meanwhile, watch the teaser clip for "Kingdom Hearts 3:"
