After his shocking departure from the popular One Direction boyband, many fans wondered if Zayn Malik would ever look back to his days with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne. Almost immediately afterwards, Zayn Malik broke up with Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, the very reason he'd left One Direction in the first place. But, the 23-year-old singer seems to have coped well with his new life, as he admits he doesn't regret being part of One Direction, and looks like he's enjoying his time with model Gigi Hadid--albeit that remains in contention.
Being proud of his 'One Direction' stint
According to some excepts in his memoirs published by Teen Vogue, Zayn Malik said he would never deny being part of One Direction. He said it will always be an integral part of his history, and that he will always be thankful for the fans who'd seen him through. The "Pillowtalk" singer emphasized this point by revealing that he still had all the One Direction memorabilia in his house.
This was a complete walkback from Zayn Malik's previous comments about his time in One Direction. He earlier said that part of the reason he walked away from the group was because he didn't feel like he belonged there, and was only sticking around because he was nowhere else to be at the time. Zayn Malik leaving One Direction was actually a buildup as he slowly distanced himself from the group physically, mentally and creatively.
Gigi Hadid troubles
Zayn Malik is now dating model Gigi Hadid months after he broke up with fiancee Perrie Edwards. The two seem to remain rock-solid as they've been dating for a year. It was even earlier reported that Zayn had covered up his earlier tattoo of Perrie Edwards which used to appear on his arm.
However, reports circulated that Gigi Hadid's family do not approve of Zayn Malik. Sources said that the Hadid family felt that Zayn was odd and awkward and that talking with him felt more like "pulling teeth." Bella Hadid, Gigi's sister, was also said to disapprove of the former One Direction star as she felt that he was only dating her to stay famous.
