'Justice League Dark' Release Date, News & Updates: Director To Take Uncommon Ways for Film; Lessons Learned from Past WB Movies?

"Justice League Dark" is expected to be the next hit animated film under the DC Universe, but compared to the predecessors that are the more popular novel-based adaptations, this in particular may be a little too hard to understand. More so with the approach that the team looks to apply to the film.

For those that may not be aware of its concept, "Justice League Dark" is a faction of the entities within the DC Universe that utilize magic to take on the growing evil around the globe. Contrary to the more heroic antics provided by the original Justice League, this group is not entirely comprised of the usual caped metahumans, but with magicians, mythical beings and demons alike.

According to IGN, the director of "Justice League Dark" Doug Liman made statements pertaining to his upcoming projects, namely the supposed "Edge of Tomorrow 2" and the talked about "Justice League Dark" wherein he clarified what he has in mind. As much as the sci-fi hit flick is an appealing movie to pay attention to, "Justice League Dark" is considerably a different thing to push through with, according to Liman.

Collider noted that Liman is somewhat used to being appointed the odd projects, and for "Justice League Dark," he aims to deliver something rather uncanny. The word "unconventional" is one that is no longer new to him, Liman further wishes to do something which no one has done before. Likewise, Liman will not engage in the same mishaps that others have done before.

The critical reception given to both "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad" may be the exclamation point in which the successors who want make DC Universe films may need to be aware of. Warner Bros. has created a certain norm in its superhero movies which may or may not be appealing to fans, and Liman, along with the studio, may have learned from these flaws along the way for "Justice League Dark."

"Justice League Dark" is expected to hit the theaters sometime next year. Keep posted for more on updates and news here at GamenGuide.
