'Rise of the Tomb Raider' News & Update: Leak Reveals Sequel Name 'Shadow of the Tomb Raider,' Developed by Eidos Montreal

Here's some peculiar news for fans of Square Enix's "Rise of the Tomb Raider." It seems that the 2015 game's sequel now has a title attached to it. The news comes from a Montreal subway passenger who saw another man working on a PowerPoint presentation about the said sequel.

Kotaku reports that the leak reveals the "Rise of the Tomb Raider" sequel name to be "Shadow of the Tomb Raider." The subway passenger who saw the man working on what looked like a "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" PowerPoint presentation while on the subway took to Reddit to share his discovery. He also shared that he was from Montreal and was making his way downtown work when he spotted the man working on his laptop.

Fans are now wondering why the sequel of "Rise of the Tomb Raider, "Shadow of the Tomb Raider," is being developed in Canada instead of Crystal Dynamics in San Francisco. It seems that the upcoming game is being developed by Eidos Montreal. The aforementioned studio is the same one responsible for "Thief" and "Deux Ex: Mankind Divided."

A representative for Square Enix refused to comment on the incident to Gamespot. However, Square Enix's Phil Rogers did mention during last year's Gamescom that there is a third installment on the way for "Rise of the Tomb Raider." We now finally know that it will be titled "Shadow of the Tomb Raider."

"Rise of the Tomb Raider" was initially released for Xbox One consoles back in 2015 as part of an exclusivity deal with Microsoft. However, the studio also released the game on PlayStation 4 just last month. Whether or not "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" will be released on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One remains to be seen. Check back for more details on the anticipated "Shadow of the Tomb Raider," which as of now does not have a release date attached to it yet.
