There was a lot of news flying out of Nintendo Direct, Nintendo's web cast. You can catch up on all of it here. One bit of news we wanted to highlight was that that "Pikmin 3" is coming, as the web cast noted, "in a few months". Thankfully, Nintendo of America revealed today the game will hit store shelves on August 4.
Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, took some time out of his packed presentation to pinpoint a very specific type of Pikmin called the Winged Pikmin. The pink unit is able to fly above and over inaccessible/dangerous areas. At E3 2012 Nintendo showed off the Rock Pikmin, a rock with Pikmin eyes and limbs that attacks slowly. At the rate Nintendo reveal new characters the game will have come and gone by the time they talk about the next one.
