‘Gears of War 4’ Latest News & Update: Hip-Hop Duo Run The Jewels To Be Playable Characters In Game; Be Like EL-P Or Killer Mike

Just when players thought that "Gears of War 4" could no longer get even more exciting, a new update will be rolling out soon and players can now play as hip-hop artist Run the Jewels. The hip-hop duo, which features Killer Mike and EL-P, will be joining the game soon as playable characters in multiplayer and Horde mode which is part of a cross promotion by the developer.

Shack News that also included in the "Gears of War 4" DLC are 18 brand new Run the Jewels themed emblems, weapon skins and more. The "Gears of War 4" DLC costs $19.99 and is part of efforts to promote the hip-hop duo and Microsoft for an upcoming Run the Jewels tour.

It also features two new maps Checkout and Drydock and a developer playlist as well as the inclusion of significant changes both to the Xbox One and Windows versions of "Gears of War 4". Game Rant reports that at this point, "Gears of War 4" has already been the subject of loads of positive reviews for its numerous customization options and great gameplay that can be enjoyed on Horde and multiplayer modes.

The developer, The Coalition, however, does not seem content as it plans to continuously revamp the gaming experience to keep ramping up the excitement, which "Gears of War 4" has to offer. This will be done when the latest update rolls out and will feature the addition of hip-hop artists El-P and Killer Mike which together comprise hip-hop group Run the Jewels.

While the idea of playing "Gears of War 4" with avatars that closely resemble the hip-hop duo would already sound appealing, it would be more exciting to know that the duo themselves did actual voicework for their respective characters. It has also been said that the game and the duo share some common philosophies such as brotherhood, camaraderie and never fighting alone in times of danger.

While fans of both Run the Jewels and "Gears of War 4" would not doubt that this latest update would truly excite almost anyone, it is to be noted that this is not the first time that a celebrity would appear in a video game. These days, celebrity appearances in video games are even becoming more common and cross-promotions with popular games involved is actually becoming a trend.
