A remake to the widely enjoyed Star Wars Battlefront will be launching just in time for Episode VIII. Last year's release may not have satisfied the fans' expectations but it was still an enjoyable game. EA stated that they will be planning a launch in late 2017.

Star Wars Battlefront may be the main leader in EA's Star Wars content but it is definitely not the only one. The company has exclusive rights like console exclusivity while various titles are being developed by different studios.

Aside from Star Wars Battlefront, a third-person action game is being developed by Amy Hennig at Dead Space Developer Visceral Games. She is known for her work with the Uncharted Series. It has also been reported that since Titanfall 2 has already been released, a Star Wars title will become the focus of Respawn Entertainment.

The chief financial officer of EA, Blake Jorgensen, mentioned during an investor call that a Star Wars Battlefront sequel will hit about a year from today. It is still uncertain if the publisher will follow the pattern of the release of Titanfall 1 and Battlefield 1. They are still unsure if they will be fielding a second FPS during the schedule of the packed holiday release.

According to a report from Polygon, Jorgenson mentioned that they are working very hard to make sure that the Star Wars Battlefront sequel will have a deeper and more engaging offering. Fans are hoping that he is referring to the revival of the single-player campaign that was ommited from last year's release.

Over the following months, news about the Star Wars Battlefront sequel will definitely make headlines especially since it is scheduled to be released next year. The similar release date of it's cinematic counterpart, Rogue One, will definitely have an influence in the gameplay thus it might focus more on military operations.
