From the looks of the new trailer for "Man of Steel," Zack Snyder may be on his road to redemption following the major flop of "Sucker Punch."
As the film approaches its June 14 release date, Warner Brothers is pulling all the stops to insure complete box office destruction. Even going so far as to become the first major film studio to offer early screening tickets through Walmart. Those same tickets will even include a free code to pre-order a Blu-Ray combo pack or HD digital download of the film when it's available, according to reports.
Though many were on the fence regarding Snyder purposely negating DC hero's weakness to Kryptonite and the casting of British actor Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, early test screenings have been extremely positive. The early buzz could be attributed to some key factors including Snyder's great track records with comics and graphic novels, production by Christopher Nolan himself hot of last year's closing of the "Dark Knight Trilogy," and David S. Goyer's screenplay.
The new Superman reboot trailer released this week lends to some of the film's potentially epic action sequences. Something that was disturbingly missing from Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns." There's a stylish visual grit that's become Snyder's calling card with the emotionally gripping feeling that Nolan perfected through his creative license with Batman, something mentioned during leaked reviews of that test screening.
Kevin Spacey's rendition of Lex Luthor lacked flair and was flat out boring but having Superman square off against Michael Shannon's General Zod and his evil partner Faora (played by Antje Traue) smells like a recipe for what could possibly be the biggest summer blockbuster moment.
Keeping with the emotional tone, having Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe play the roles of earthly adopted father Jonathan Kent and real father Jor-El is borderline genius. Rounding out the cast with Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Laurence Fishburne as Daily Planet Editor-In-Chief Perry White is the cherry on top.
