Hawken Tours 'The Facility' In The Game's Newest Trailer

Adhesive Games has released the latest game update for Hawken, its mech-based, sci-fi themed, online multiplayer first-person-shooter (FPS). This update brings tons of new features and enhancements to the game, along with the expected bug fixes, but the most exciting addition is the new multiplayer map called 'The Facility.'

Hawken level designer Tyler Buser gives players an in-depth overview of The Facility, along with a few tips, in the game's newest trailer. The Facility is an isolated, symmetrical map located in the middle of a massive, dangerous desert that few enter and even fewer survive. The map rests above a series of mines, providing for large open areas on the exterior of the facility, and small tight corridors inside.

"The facility's central chamber has many entrances and exits," says Buser. "These routes make the interior a great means to traverse the complex without being noticed. However, these concealed routes can also attract heavier mechs that take advantage of the tight spaces, allowing them to corner and overwhelm their opponents."

This new map will be accessible in Hawken's Team Deathmatch, Missile Assault, and Deathmatch gameplay modes. Map-specific servers will also be available for a limited time, giving all players a chance to really get used to The Facility's new surroundings.

In addition to this newest multiplayer map, The Facility update in Hawken increases the default armor on all mechs by 50 points, allowing players to live a bit longer before biting the dust. New items and customization options have also been launched, including a new Repair Drone, six new mech camouflages, a new movement thruster and tweaks to the size and duration of the game's taunts. Finally, the game's user interface has been improved, with an increased size of a player's ability icons and callsigns, as well as an enemy health bar indicator that will always allow you to see how close (or how far) an enemy is from death.

Hawken is currently available to play for free on PC. The game sees players customizing and piloting their own mechs in a search for supplies within an over-industrialized society, one multiplayer battle at a time.
