Although "Luke Cage" Season 2 is no doubt hitting small screens again, the problem is it might not be anytime soon. As per Mic, Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos said that the current schedule for Marvel-Netflix shows will be two per year.
The lineup started with the release of "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones" in 2015 then followed by the second season of "Daredevil" and the premiere of "Luke Cage" this year. Next year, it is expected that "The Defenders" and "Iron Fist" will take over the televisions. Netflix is yet to announce its upcoming lineups, but a "Luke Cage" Season 2 might not come earlier than 2018.
In an interview with Mike Colter of IGN earlier this year, the "Luke Cage" actor talks about the future of Marvel in which he said, "I think there's a big picture plan that includes everyone doing their own series, which we've done, culminating it make The Defenders."
The "Luke Cage" star further divulged that anything is possible down the road. He said: "We have the "Heroes for Hire" thing that could possibly happen. And we have Jessica and Luke hooking up, having a child, and changing their lifestyle."
