Gran Turismo 6 Prorduct Page Appears On Official Website

A Gran Turismo 6 product listing has appeared on the official website gran-turismo.com, confirming the existence of an update on the racer game. The news comes right before an event where Sony is expected to reveal details on the future of the Gran Turismo racing franchise.

"The Sony-managed website gran-turismo.com now features a product listing [since removed] for the as-of-yet unannounced Gran Turismo 6. Currently, the link in question leads to its own unique (if empty) page; further URL manipulation produces generic results," Joystiq reports.

The event today marks the racing franchise's 15 anniversary. The original Gran Turismo game was first seen in Japan in December, 1997, after five years of development by noted designer Kazunori Yamauchi, and then released around the world during 1998. A note on the web page said that Yamauchi will provide an update on the future of the Gran Turismo game at the event.

"Five Gran Turismo gamers turned GT Academy champions will be on hand at Silverstone. The 'Nismo Athletes' will be showing off their real-world racing skills with some high-speed passenger laps around the famous circuit, a track that has, so far, never featured in Gran Turismo," the note says.

The franchise known for its extensive development phase has apparently been working on Gran Turismo 6 immediately after the release of the last title. It should be noted that Gran Turismo 5 spent over five years in the works before releasing in 2010. Although Sony tried to keep the project under close wraps, Yamauchi had admitted that his team is working on the next version of the game.
