'The Winds of Winter' Release Date, News & Update: George RR Martin Delays Novel After Hillary Clinton's Loss, Calls Donald Trump ‘Unfit’?

People all over the world have been reacting to Donald J. Trump's stunning upset in the 2016 US Presidential Elections. Even now, thousands of people are still expressing their dismay over the business mogul's ascension into the White House, be it in the form of street protests or tweets. But none of them has stronger--and catchier--words for the president-elect than "The Winds of Winter" author George R.R. Martin, who warned that a Trump presidency could only mean that "winter is coming."

Following Hillary Clinton's defeats, reports are now suggesting that George R.R. Martin will now be putting writing "The Winds of Winter" and "The Song of Spring" on hold. Has winter come for the "Game of Thrones" series, as well?

'Unfit to lead the nation'

The world-renowned writer, known for his work on "A Song of Ice and Fire" series and "The Winds of Winter," took to his blog to lambast America for having elected the "worst president in American history." He went on to say that Trump is a "dangerously unstable" player on the global arena, and lamented that America wasn't better than he thought.

During the campaign, the "The Winds of Winter" author had openly endorsed Democrat Hillary Clinton for the presidency. He had minced no words for her then opponent, Republican Donald Trump, whom he called "President P***ygrabber" in his blog post in reference to Trump's sexist remarks captured on an Access Hollywood hot mic.

'The Winds of Winter' news, updates

And it looks like George R.R. Martin's disappointment is great enough to set back the release of "The Winds of Winter," the sixth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. It was earlier reported that "The Winds of Winter" is currently in its copyreading stage, but given this new development, it's possible that the writer may be too discouraged to work on the title.

Will George R.R. Martin still release "The Winds of Winter" before "Game of Thrones" Season 7 arrives in 2017? Stay tuned for more updates.
