One of the biggest HBO projects ever "Westworld" can come back to TV screens. New season has been ordered and viewers can expect another round of robot/cowboys violence treat in some time. The time of airing has not been said yet, but it is rumored that it will be sometime in 2018. However, not everybody is delighted with this news since there are opinions that the show was not satisfying.
Telegraph UK says that "Westworld" will return for season 2. HBO’s head of programming, Casey Bloys, says that high rating paired up with high interest from fans on social media are definitely the strategy to make the second season happen. One of the shows stars, Jimmi Simpson, said that the ending of the first season in episode 10 will close some plotlines, but it will open new ones to be awaited in "Westworld" season 2. James Marsden, another star, said that creators are having plans for at least 5 more seasons. As a possible air date is said to be sometime in 2018.
The Verge as well confirms that the comeback of "Westworld" is certain, along with other two series "Insecure" and "Divorce". "Westworld" takes viewers into a Western-themed park where visitors are allowed to do anything they want. The series was a huge hit and it is awaited to see if the sequel will be the same.
Not everybody, though, are excited about "Westworld" comeback. Corey Atad, writer for the Esquire, said that the show did not satisfy. Huge number of characters, regardless of some great acting names among them, is not a winning formula. According to him this is just another branding opportunity for HBO. Over violent and plot-burning series did not meet the standards set by the amount of money invested in it. This is just not art, he says. Meaning and purpose of characters are not clear and, he wonders, why we should invest in them. The only character worth watching is Maeve (Thandie Newton), built just a drop in a sea of bad plots and stereotypes.
Viewers should now definitely wait and see whether he was right or the series does deserve their full attention.
