Blizzard Reveals New Changes To Titan MMO

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that the company’s upcoming MMO title Titan has been delayed until 2016 due to the “changes” that the company is making to it.

According to GameBeat, as learned from a source close to the project, as many as 100 developers were working on Titan until the team was reduced to 70 positions with Blizzard reassigning those people to other projects. “Meanwhile, the core of the team will start over on Titan. The title is now not expected to be published until 2016 at the earliest.”

While Blizzard, as of now, is hiring for about seven positions that are related to the upcoming MMO, it is still not clear as to where the game will finally land. It's unclear if Titan will be for the for PC, consoles, or all of them.

Blizzard, however, released a statement saying: “We’ve always had a highly iterative development process, and the unannounced MMO is no exception. We’ve come to a point where we need to make some large design and technology changes to the game.”

“We’re using this opportunity to shift some of our resources to assist with other projects while the core team adapts our technology and tools to accommodate these new changes. Note that we haven’t announced any dates for the MMO.”

The development for Titan started back in 2008, and later, in 2010, Blizzard's Rob Pardo stated that he expected to reveal the next generation MMO title by 2012.

Maybe the delay could come as welcoming news for the company due to the fact that Bethesda is set to announce its upcoming The Elder Scrolls Online for late 2013, and that could have been a major competition to Blizzard.

Bethesda is currently set to show off The Elder Scrolls Online at this year’s E3.
