Iron Man Gets An 8-bit Mega Man Makeover

While watching Iron Man, it's possible you may have had some sneaking feelings of déjà vu, especially if you've ever held within your sweaty palm the rectangular controller for the original NES.

Think now...an A.I. assisted super suit, with an arsenal of weaponry that's been picked up over the course of a long career, out to stop villains from using tools of mechanical mayhem against humans, all rounded out by a showdown with a giant metal monster? Yep, sure sounds like Capcom's Mega Man alright...

The crew at Cinefix thought so, so they threw Tony Stark back in time (released 5 years ago, the first Iron Man movie is now as retro as the blue bomber as far as pop culture is concerned), and changed up his Mark III armor for something a little more, well, "blast from the past." Then there's a nice quick rundown of the events of the movie, wrapped up in a nice 60 seconds, featuring as much Terrence Howard as the last two Iron Man movies - none.

It makes sense when you think about it. Just like Mega, Stark has taken on his fair share of robot masters, and Obidiah Stane all decked out in his version of the Mark I did kind of resemble Guts Man if you look closely enough.

Definitely looks like it would play better than Sega's abysmal video game version of the summer blockbuster.

This is the first episode of 8bit Cinema, but the crew is asking for fans to offer them up some ideas, so if you have any, mosey on over to their page and feel free to share. Personally, here are a few of my favorites:

* anything Dracula related in the style of Castlevania
* spaghetti westerns as Sunset Riders
* Predator as Contra is a bit obvious, but dammit, it would work
* Fast & Furious as Mario Kart
