Apple iPhone 6s Battery Shutdown Issues, Latest News & Update: Replacement For Free?

With the "touch disease" issue hounding iPhone 6s models just a few days back, Apple is now facing another product concern. This is in connection with the complaints many customers experienced about battery life.

Apple is reportedly offering battery replacement for customers worldwide free of charge for some iPhone 6S handsets that keep shutting down. This is the tech company's second fix in a span of one week.

Apple's iPhone 6s Users Eligibility For Replacement

In a report from The Wall Street Journal, units that were manufactured between the months of September and October of 2015 will be covered by a free battery replacement. If you're covered under warranty or AppleCare+, the company will replace your battery at no charge with the condition that it retains less than 80 percent of its original capacity. Apple says an unexpected shutdown of some iPhone 6 and 6s isn't a safety issue.

Accidental damage isn't covered under the Apple One-Year Limited Warranty. Pricing applies only to battery repairs by Apple. Apple authorized service locations may set their own pricing. Battery replacement coverage under AppleCare+ is available for a covered iPhone if the battery retains less than 80% of its original capacity. In a post from Apple's official website, additional shipping fee will be added if your repair requires shipping and isn't covered under warranty or AppleCare+, as stated in the tech company's official website.

Replace Malfunctioning Batteries Or Avail Of The Refund

Owners are advised to back up their data, turn off Find my iPhone and erase settings. If owners have already paid for battery replacement, and the unit is manufactured September and October 2015, then owners will be eligible for a refund. Replacement program will cover affected device batteries for three years after a first retail sale. A significant number of owners of a malfunctioning battery of iPhone 6s.
