The fate of "Divergent: Ascendant" has been a controversial issue not only for the producers but for the lead stars of the franchise as well. Initially planned to be released in the big screen, producers changed directions and planned to make it into a TV series.

The fans of "Divergent: Ascendant" had mixed reactions to the developments for the final franchise of "Divergent" series. Theo James and Shailene Woodley were both not excited for the possibility that "Divergent: Ascendant" would be turned into a TV series.

Theo James and Shailene Woodley starred in all the "Divergent" series that were shown in the big screen. The success of the "Divergent" series unfortunately dwindled down, making the producers consider releasing the "Divergent: Ascendant" on the small screen instead.

Initial reports revealed that Theo James and Shailene Woodley were not actually on board into starring in "Divergent: Ascendant" as a TV series. Admittedly, making a TV series is way more different than starring in a movie. 

However, recent reports say that Theo James has given the go signal to still reprise his role as Four inf ever "Divergent; Ascendant" will be made into a TV series. Sources say that the 31-year old actor is trying to convince Shailene Woodley into accepting the TV role as well.

With the ongoing preparations for "Divergent: Ascendant" TV series, reports say that Shailene Woodley is still undecided on whether she will reprise Tris' role. The 25-year old actress must make a decision soon or else she will have to be replaced with another actress to play the role of Tris.

As of writing, "Divergent: Ascendant" release date is still unavailable since the production team is still ironing out the details for the franchise. It appears that "Divergent: Ascendant" will really push through as a TV series but an official announcement and confirmation have yet to be released.
