The New York Institute is in chaos when the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 opens. The synopsis for the new season hints The Clave is not happy with Jace's betrayal and Clary, Alec, and Izzy are in big trouble.
The "Shadowhunters" Season 2 premiere episode takes off after the events in the Season 1 Finale. To recap, Jace joined his father Valentine to save his friends. He joined the other rogue Shadowhunters and disappeared inside the portal, leaving his friends feeling troubled.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn woke up from her deep slumber, thanks to Magnus Bane. It was a happy yet bittersweet reunion for everyone, especially since Jace is gone. However, the team has a much bigger problem to face back at The institute in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2.
According to the synopsis for the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 from Cartermatt, the premiere episode opens just hours after Jace left with Valentine. The Clave eventually learned about what happened at The Institute and decided to remedy the chaos right away.
In the "Shadowhunters" Season 2, The Clave sends another representative to The Institute, since Lydia clearly did not do a good job. The group sends Victor Aldertree (Nick Sagar) to foresee the activities at The Institute. Victor makes sure to it that none of the Shadowhunters disobeys his orders.
As part of his counteractive measures to ensure the safety of his people, Victor announces a temporary lockdown of The Institute. Of course, this does not sit well with Clary, Alec, and Izzy. They have to find Jace right away, but they cannot do that with Victor watching their back. According to the synopsis for the "Shadowhunters" Season 2, Victor prevents them from fulfilling their mission according to their plans.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn has a lot of catching up to do in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2. She finds out that everything and everyone has changed, including Simon, who is now a vampire. Most especially, she learns that her daughter Clary is now a Shadowhunter.
