‘Alien: Covenant’ Release Date, Latest News & Update: Poster Debut Preponed?
As pre- thanksgiving gift 20th Century Fox has unveiled the debut poster of "Alien: Covenant". The poster as well as the single-word tagline: "run" are enough to send chills under anyone's spine. The fans will be delighted to know that the film's release date has been moved up nearly three months.
The poster is a creepy one-sheet indicating that this "Prometheus" sequel will completely tie into the Alien franchise, reported Collider. Though, "Alien: Covenant" started as a sequel to "Prometheus", director Ridley Scott decided to reshape the story to benefit from the huge success of Alien franchise. The poster reflects elements of "Alien" and the creature in it has resemblance with an antecedent to the xenomorph which terrified the fans in the original movie.
The makers have also decided to move up the release date of "Alien: Covenant" from August 4, 2017 to May 19, 2017. It's a rare shift as mostly movies are postponed but in rare cases, they are preponed. However, Ridley Scott seems to complete the post production of the film extremely fast and it's ready to be released 3 months earlier from its original release date.
"Alen: Covenant" will be released alongside Warner Bros.' horror sequel Annabelle 2, the animated movie "The Nut Job 2" and Kid-Centric "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul". However, its biggest competition will be Dwayne Johnson and Priyanka Chopra starer Baywatch.
"Alien: Covenant" will feature Noomi Repace, Billy Crudup, Katherine Waterson and Danny McBride. The official synopsis of the film was released in October. It described the film as a second chapter to the "Alien" prequel trilogy, as per Hollywood Reporters. It has been stated in the synopsis that the colony ship Covenant discovers a paradise world on the far end of the galaxy. But soon learns that the so-called paradise is actually a dangerous place and its only inhabitant is the synthetic David.
