Dark Souls 3 News And Updates: Game Comming To VR?

When asked during the pre-show for the 2016 Golden Jostick Awards if the Dark Souls franchise has a future in Virtual Reality (VR) gaming, Dark Souls producer Atsuo Yoshimura has some interesting comments on the possibility. VR gaming is the hottest trend right now the Dark Souls franchise could try their hands at it.

In an interview during the pre show for the 2016 Golden Joystick Awards, Atsuo Yoshimura shared his thoughts about the Dark Souls franchise in VR gaming. He nervously said yes before laughing and followed up with "we're hoping". This could be a sign that FromSoftware developer of the Dark Souls series, might be testing out VR gaming and could potentially lead to Dark Souls in VR.

The Dark Souls series is known for their rich but dark and gloomy world. Its one of the key elements of what makes the series popular. With Dark Souls supporting VR, the captivating world that FromSoftware has created can be made more immersive allowing player a new perspective into their world.

However, in an interview in 2014 of Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of the Dark Souls series, FromSoftware is ready to close the chapter on the series. He says that it wouldn't be right to continue creating souls. But the director still assured fans that Dark Souls is not the last of the series but simply the developer will be taking a break in making more Dark Souls. So we can expect Dark Souls VR to come in the distant future or maybe, Fromsoftware could develop VR support in their other games like Armored Core or Bloodborne. Now who wouldn't be excited for an Armored Core VR game featuring battling mechs? That is certainly a game that long time fans of the series would be excited about.

VR is the latest trend in gaming today with multiple companies creating their own version of the accessory. Already, the VR gaming is a hit with gamers as initial supplies for the Oculus Rift and the HTC VIVE were severely limited due to high demand. With the recent release of the Playstation VR, the gaming industry has completely embraced VR gaming offering a new experience to PC's and consoles. Other companies including Microsoft and Razer are also joining the VR trend developing their own VR headsets. As the trends suggest, there's a lot of potential for VR and can expand beyond the world of gaming.

VR gaming is now officialy upon and unlike its first iteration in the form the Virtual Boy by Nintendo, VR gaming is here to stay. We can expect more game series like Dark Souls to support VR in the future as the technology for VR improves. For now, we can only wait for game developers to showcase the potential of VR.
