Chrome OS users can't still believe their eyes that their ChromeBook is now much more useful. The good news is there are other things to come up with the Wake on Voice command and Google Assistant.
Chrome OS looks promising when it was first released with ChromeBook but getting used to it is not easy as it only has Chrome browser to do stuff for you. It almost lacks application needed like you used to with Microsoft and Mac computers. However, recent updates under the Developer channel made the ChromeBook in competition mode again with the other operating system.
It is a good thing that Google continues to add features for Chrome OS users, Wake on Voice command and Google Assistant is expected to launch soon. According to ChromeUnboxed, it discovered the commit in which Google plans to bring Wake on Voice to the Gru baseboard. Samsung ChromeBook Pro is based on the Gru baseboard which has Digital Signal Processor or DSP support.
Samsung ChromeBook Pro has a 12.3-inch display with a 360-degree hinge which makes it perfect for Wake on Voice command. Although this feature is unnecessary, some users may find it useful to them. Also, another commit has confirmed the use of OK Google for an Always-listening keyword on Chrome OS. It could be in the form of Google Assistant that was introduced in Google Pixel smartphone, 9to5Google reported.
The discovery of the commits shows that Google is still working hard for the Chrome OS to be more useful to users. Wake on Voice command and Google Assistant could be a good move for the tech giant to improve its Chrome OS.
However, as clearly as it continues to develop; it is more likely now that Chrome OS is slowly becoming an Android. With all the Android apps it can use and the integration of Google Assistant, it can be safe to say that the difference between Android and Chrome OS is the device on where the OS is installed.
