Celebrate the 4th of July with Saints Row 4

Today, we celebrate another year of our nation's independence, the fourth of July. 'Twas on this date over two hundred years ago that...I'm not sure really. Something about the British, right? Maybe some forefathers, and fireworks, can't forget about that. Whatever the reason, Deep Silver is joining in on the celebration, releasing an uber-patriotic trailer for the fourth addition to the open world Saints Row series, which mixes super human powers and politics like nobody's business.

Basically, the trailer sums up the game's premise in an easy to swallow package all wrapped up in red, white, n' blue, with the soothing narration of Keith "Not this year" David. You've worked your way up from the streets to reach the office as the leader of the free world, the President of the United States of America. And as the super power wielding commander in chief, it's up to you to put a stop to the "anal raping overlords," and lay the smack down on the extra terrestrial Zin Empire.

Granted, the game's about saving more than just the United States, but the whole free world. Still, by the end, it'll be hard for you to keep yourself from shouting, "USA, USA, USA!"

Here in the real world, we get presidents who drone on about health care reform and choke on pretzels. Saints Row IV lets players use their new reign of presidential super powers to powerbomb an alien, or throw a woman into a Humvee with telekinesis. Such is the insanity behind Saints Row, a franchise that helped popularize the concept of smacking people with a giant dildo bat.

Though, maybe that was just me. You can check out the trailer in its entirety below. Saints Row IV hits Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 later this summer, August 20th. Read up on some of the pre-order bonuses here, including an actual, real life Dubstep Gun.
