Aside from the new arc that will start with "Naruto Shippuden" Episode 484 and 485, there are speculations that the anime series will eventually touch the Boruto storyline by mid 2017. While still unconfirmed, it is a good indication of continuity since the Boruto manga is still ongoing.

The coming "Naruto Shippuden" Episode 484 and 485 will introduce new villains into the story according to reports. The Sixth Hokage Kakashi will send Sasuke to the Land of Lightning. In this mission, Sasuke will clash with a rogue ninja group Dark Thunder and their leader Karyu. There are also hints that Sasuke will be investigating Orochimaru's secret base in the coming episodes.
"Naruto Shippuden" Episode 484 air date is slated this coming December 1 and will carry the title "Book of Sunrise - The Detonating Man." On the other hand, "Naruto Shipudden" Episode 485 will be titled "Book of Sunrise - Colosseum" will be aired the following week on December 8, 2016.
