Eve V Latest News & Update: Microsoft CEO Shows Interest In Hybrid Tablet-Laptop; Is This A Surface Pro Killer?

The first-ever crowd designed computer, Eve V, is set to be released soon. Eve V will directly compete with Microsoft Surface Pro. Pre-order is now accepted and even Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will get one.

A Helsinki-based start-up, Eve, with Intel backup has developed a laptop/tablet hybrid computer called Eve V that is expected to compete with Microsoft's Surface Pro. The design and built were a collaboration of the Eve community that will also run with Windows 10 operating system.

According to Business Insider, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has caught his attention with the Eve V project after he learned about it. Nadella will be getting his unit when the shipping starts in February. Eve CEO Konstantinos Karatsevidis confirmed it and said, "[Microsoft] really wanted to see the device."

Project Pyramid Flipper, the codename for Eve V, has been opened to the Eve community and the result was tremendous. People who signed for the Eve community provided suggestions on how Eve can improve the Eve V. The start-up company first thought of a slim design with the Eve V but the Eve community poured in their suggestions to help improve the device.

As a result result, the design and specs of Eve V are now a possible threat with big tech giants on how it manufactures its devices. Eve V has 12.3-inch IGZO with scratch and drop resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. It has 2,736 x 1,824 resolution same with Surface Pro 4, but Eve 5 has Anti-reflection coating. Eve V has the latest processor of Intel 7th gen Core i7 compared to Surface Pro and Asus Transformer Pro.

The 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD storage of Eve V is similar with Microsoft Surface Pro and ASUS Transformer 3 Pro. The tablet comes with Pogo-pin keyboard and has Bluetooth 4.2 feature for wireless connectivity. Eve V also has the V Pen that is Windows Ink-certified with 1,024 pressure levels, which is on par both for the Surface and Asus Pens, Silicon Angle reported.

In addition, Eve V comes with quad speakers equipped with finest audio processor available. It also features an audio amplifier for the headphone jack. The tablet device has two full-size USB 3.1 Gen 1, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 USB-C, 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports, and microSDXC card slot. What makes Eve V stand out from Surface Pro 4 and ASUS Transformer 3 Pro is its battery life of 10-12 hours as Eve-tech claims. The tablet may come with Windows 10 Home or Pro free of bloatware.

Meanwhile, Eve V has a lower spec version which comes with Core m3 and i5 that cost $699. The Core i7 version of Eve V is priced at $1,399 only below the sales price of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and ASUS Transformer 3 Pro. The shipment of pre-ordered Eve V for early backers will start in February 2017 and the rest of the backers will receive the device starting in April 2017.
