Metal Gear Solid 5 is nothing compared to GTA 5: Kojima bows down to Rockstar

Whenever a new game is teased or officially revealed, big gaming companies try to hype the title in every way possible. This often involves trash talking rivals to gain the upper hand in the race. However, it seems like the famous Hideo Kojima has different, more respectable ways of doing things.

Kojima recently decided to promote his upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain title. However, the approach he took in doing so seems like the complete opposite to what others do these days to promote titles. Surprisingly, Kojima openly confessed that he does not feel the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5 can be as good as Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5 title.

"‘GTA V’ new trailer was awesome! This free control is future of the game, way higher than anywhere, makes me depress as matter fact.(cont..),” Kojima wrote on his official Twitter page. “I don't think our "V" can reach that level. Rockstar's team are the best. W/o question they will pull up the possibility of game.”

Now we are not sure as to why Kojima posted such a frank confession on Twitter, admiring the capabilities of Grand Theft Auto 5 over his Metal Gear Solid 5. We're guessing that Kojima just did this in good faith and showed his personal appreciation for Rockstar’s upcoming open-world thriller, but it's still possible Kojima's playing mind-games with the competition. Or maybe, we are being too critical here on something that was said in good faith.

Kojima is an avid tweeter, expressing his opinions on everything from what he eats for lunch to what movies he's seen (he recently showered praise all over "Pacific Rim." So maybe he's just being honest and expressing some admiration for GTA V.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, the eighth game in the series directed by Hideo Kojima and the first one produced with Kojima Productions' in-house Fox Engine development kit, will continue after the events in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in 1975.

The player will control Snake (also known as Big Boss), working on behalf of the Militaires Sans Frontieres. Following the orders from Kazuhira Miller, Snake will be sent to infiltrate an American black site on Cuban soil called Camp Omega.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is currently scheduled for a 2014 release on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
