Good to work at GameStop: Managers to get a free PlayStation 4 and seven games

The old adage goes "membership has its perks," but that seems to apply to management as well, with regard to working at retailer GameStop.

In addition to barking orders at regular staffers about offering a Game Informer subscription and pre-orders to customers no matter the glazed over look in their eyes, when all they want to do is scream "No, I don't have a used game card, I just want to buy this game, STOP ASKING ME QUESTIONS AND LET ME MAKE THIS SIMPLE PURCHASE!"

Sorry, rough flashback there from my last trip to the mall. Any who, it seems there's some other fringe benefits to having a nametag sporting a "manager" ranking.

During the retailer's expo that's currently underway in Las Vegas, it was announced that GameStop managers would have earned themselves a PlayStation 4 when the console launches this November, as well as seven games, all at no cost. The retailer confirmed the news with Joystiq earlier today, which reported that the games offered would include Killzone: Shadow FallNBA 2K14FIFA 14Battlefield 4, and Need for Speed: Rivals. Given the confirmed list of launch titles, the remaining two could be eight others. Sure sounds like a sweet deal, but before you start filling out job applications, I wouldn't count on the deal being retroactive.

For the rest of us, with or without a GameStop job, we'll all just have to wait until Sony's next-gen console launches, November 15 here in the States, and November 29 in Europe.

Under the hood, the PS4 boasts Supercharged PC architecture, X86 CPU, Enhanced PC GPU, 8GB Unified Memory, Local HDD. It will support the same PlayStation Plus service as the Vita and PS3. However, a Plus subscription will be required for online multiplayer games, but not for additional media services like Netflix. Sony has also updated the Dual Shock controllers with a touch screen and improved shoulder triggers.

The PS4 will have its own Instant Game collection service; the first game of which will be Drive Club PS Plus Edition. Future games include Don't Starve and Outlast. Video streaming and game sharing services are provided via Gaikai.

When the PlayStation 4 arrives, it will retail for $399.
