For the longest time, rumors have been circulating that the show was going to have a spin-off. Now, the FX finally confirms that they have ordered "Mayans MC" for a pilot.
The news comes via Entertainment Weekly, which reports that FX will be shooting a pilot for "Mayans MC" from Kurt Sutter and Elgin James. Production will begin in March 2017 and Sutter is set to direct the pilot episode. According to the report, Sutter will be telling the story of the Mayans motorcycle club following Jax Teller's death in the series finale of "Sons of Anarchy."

Back in July, many were speculating that Emilio Rivera would be back to lead the Mayans MC as Marcus Alvarez in the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off. "Sons of Anarchy" debuted in 2008 to positive reviews from viewers and critics alike. It grew a fanbase and earned six more seasons, which ended in 2014 with (spoiler) the death of Jax Teller. Katey Sagal, who played Gemma Teller Morrow on the show, earned a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series back in 2011. The show was also nominated for an Outstanding Achievement in Drama at the 2010 TCA Awards. "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off "Mayans MC" will begin shooting in March 2017.
