Jennifer Aniston is not doing a "FRIENDS" reunion movie because it does not fit in today's Internet and social media era, an interview with Lorraine Kelly, ITV host, revealed. The 1990s TV hit series is a "comfort food" for people and thrive on reruns.
Aniston, when asked on a possibility of doing "FRIENDS" movie, replied she does not what they would do. According to her, the period where the TV sitcom hit "FRIENDS" was shown was nostalgic and the viewers have the affection for the show, which ended in May 2004, after 10 seasons. Jennifer played the role of a Rachel Green, fashion enthusiast and best friend of Monica Geller, portrayed by Courteney Cox.
"There was something about a time, where our faces were not shoved into cellphones and we were not, like, checking Facebook and Instagram," explained Aniston, "And we were in a room together, or at a coffee shop together, and we were talking [or] having conversations," she continued, adding that we have lost all that.
Aniston explained the sitcom series was not only "a gift" but also, something the viewers can bring with them and find comfort in it whenever they feel down or whenever they need distraction. "FRIENDS," which began airing in September 1994 on NBC, enjoyed high viewership ratings and despite having the show ended 10 years later, the sitcom's distribution continues on Blue-ray. Jennifer had fun looking back into its production.
The 47-year-old actress has been cast as Carol Vanstone in a film, "Office Christmas Party," set for release on December 9. In January 2017, she will appear as Maureen Murphy in a movie, "The Yellow Birds."
Before joining the film industry, Jennifer Aniston was involved in Off-Broadway and part-time jobs, including working as waitress, bike messenger and telemarketer. Her first TV appearance was in "Molloy" TV series.
