iOS 10.2 Release Date, Latest News & Update: Apple Urged To Fix Buggy Activation Locks Of iPhones, iPads

iOS 10 continues to show its flaws and now the latest is on the activation locks for iPhones and iPads. Initially pegged as impossible, researchers have found a way to break the activation locks for the said Apple devices, another negative development that may pressure the Cupertino company to fast-track the release of iOS 10.2.

The latest iOS 10 flaw follows a previous issue tied up with iOS 10.1.1. In a previous post, the latest bug had something to do with the battery of Apple devices. With iOS 10.1.1 running, iPhones or iPads reportedly shut down when reaching 30 percent of battery life.

Initially seen as a fast drain, folks eventually discovered that the battery indicator is still at 30 percent. Apple has yet to address the matter though the best bet is to see fixes coming on iOS 10.2. The next iOS is expected to roll out soon with iOS 10.2 already on the fourth beta.

As far as the latest activation locks for iOS 10, security researcher Hemanth Joseph was able to work around and exploit the weakness of iOS 10. After finding a way to freeze the tablet, he tried to find a way to make the setup process fail, Forbes reported. At some point he was able to bypass the setup process with perfect timing.

Vulnerability Lab pretty much did the same WiFi overloading thing though got something different tied up to the home screen. The home screen of the iPad appears only for a moment before disappearing. Pressing on the sleep/wake button accounted for making it open.

The thing here is that if those trials were done by the criminals, an iPhone or iPad could easily be set up as a new device thanks to the iOS 10.1 security flaws. As most know, iOS 10 has so far been bannered by such.

That said, Apple has its work cut out for themselves with iOS 10.2. These and more bugs are likely and hopefully less of them will be seen once iOS 10.2 comes out in the open.
