American Horror Movie "Insidious" is back for another chapter. Story writer, director and co-star, Leigh Whannell confirmed the good news and said that production for "Insidious: Chapter 4" has already started.
According to The Wrap, Universal Studio announced that "Insidious: Chapter 4" will be released on Oct. 20, 2017. The studio had previously reserved this date for an untitled Blumhouse project.
As of now, there are still no specifics on how will "Insidious" be in the next chapter. One thing is for sure is, "Insidious: Chapter 4" is going to feature some storylines from the previous chapters.
The filmmaker said in his interview that he hasn't decided yet whether he is going to pick up "Insidious: Chapter 4" from Chapter 3. "But for the purposes of this interview, I'll say that I'd like to explore the time between this film and the first film," he said. "I think an interesting thing would be to follow Elise (Lin Shaye), Specs (Leigh Whannell) and Tucker (Angus Sampson) from the end of the third film. See what their next adventure would be and remain in that prequel world for "Insidious: Chapter 4."
A lot of people are sending Leigh Wannel tweets saying 'What happened at the end of the second one - we need to find out." But Whannell actually thinks that the other direction would be more interesting which, is to see where Elise and Specs and Tucker would go in "Insidious: Chapter 4."
According to Slash Film, since the only confirmed cast to return is Shaye, it seems likely that "Insidious: Chapter 4" will be picking again a new case from Elise Rainier's files rather than to continue from the story of Chapter 3.
Aside from Leigh Whannell, Adam Robitel who directed the movie "The Taking of Deborah Logan," will also direct "Insidious: Chapter 4." Whannell will produce along with the Insidious Original producers, Oren Peli, Jason Blum, Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Charles Layton.
